In response to New York’s congestion pricing program continuing beyond Donald Trump’s second threatened deadline, Evergreen Action States Vice President Justin Balik released the following statement: 

“Trump is now on his second self-imposed deadline, playing a one-man game of chicken—and once again, New York isn’t swerving. His latest bluff is yet another desperate attempt to derail a program that’s already delivering real results. Congestion pricing isn’t going anywhere. In just over two months, congestion is easing, streets are safer, and support is growing as New Yorkers experience the benefits firsthand.

“Let’s call this what it is: a petty power play from a man who thinks threatening cities from behind a podium counts as policy. It doesn’t. New York’s legal authority to implement congestion pricing is solid and no amount of political theater can undo it. Governor Hochul is holding the line and New Yorkers are with her. Other governors should take note—this is what leadership looks like in the face of manufactured chaos.”
