In response to recent reporting that New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration is moving to reinstate congestion pricing, Evergreen Action Senior State Program Director Justin Balik released the following statement:
“It is essential that New York acts quickly to safeguard its transportation future and climate legacy before Trump takes office next year. This report that the governor is preparing to reinstate congestion pricing is encouraging, but there’s no time to lose. We know from his first term that a Trump administration will be openly and actively hostile toward New York’s transportation needs and climate goals. That’s why New York must take advantage of this window to implement congestion pricing immediately. We can ease congestion while simultaneously reducing air pollution, improving affordability, and increasing access to mass transit. But time is running out—New York must act now.”
