Today, Trump’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published a new rule that will make Americans less safe by scrapping the Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards finalized under the Biden administration. In response, Evergreen Action Senior Transportation Policy Lead Liya Rechtman released the following statement:

“President Trump’s DOT is saddling American drivers with tens of billions of dollars in additional costs. Fuel economy standards are a popular, proven method to limit pollution on our roads and save the average family thousands of dollars over the life of their vehicle. We know that scrapping these standards will lead to more asthma, more heart disease, and worsening climate impacts. But the Trump administration is showing us once again that they are willing to let people die and go broke to prop up Big Oil and corporate donors.”
