Trump’s EPA Abandons Its Mission In Move to Kill Endangerment Finding

In response to Administrator Lee Zeldin’s announcement that Donald Trump’s EPA is moving to overturn the landmark climate regulation known as the “endangerment finding,” which has served as the backbone of many common-sense EPA regulations protecting the American public from pollution, Evergreen Action Executive Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“The climate crisis is here, now. No amount of denial will stop the floods, wildfires, and extreme heat waves that are already costing too many Americans their lives. Dismantling the legal backbone of one of our strongest tools to fight this crisis just gives corporate polluters a free pass to poison our communities and make this crisis worse. It’s reckless, baseless, and it won’t stand up in court.

“The EPA’s job is to protect the American people from dangerous pollution. But Trump and Zeldin are abandoning that mission to shield polluters from accountability—even if it means more climate disasters and more preventable deaths. Today, Trump’s EPA made climate denial the official policy of the federal government, opening the door to higher energy bills, dirtier air, and deadlier disasters. Americans didn’t vote for this, but they’ll be the ones who pay the price."
